Ambassadors appointed for five countries

10/04/2009

Kantipur Report
KATHMANDU, April 9 - Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) Thursday passed the names of the nominated ambassadors for five different countries.
A meeting of the PHSC held at Singha Durbar decided to appoint Ram Swartha Rai for the United Kingdom, Sukdev Shah for the United States of America, Suresh Pradhan for Germany, Surendra Kumar Karki for France and Chandrakant Poudel for India.

However, the PHSC members could not forge consensus on the proposal of Shah and Pradhan for the US and Germany respectively.

The differences among the members rose after Shah was accused of having a Green Card and also not presenting himself before the PHSC properly.

Meanwhile, Pradhan has been accused of involvement in illegal activities against the country.

The ambassadors' names have been endorsed as per the provision of endorsement which states that the proposed name will be rectified even if only one supports it.

The proposed names will be then sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which will designate the ambassadors for the respective countries.
