DRAFT *** Gurkha community to clean up town’s beauty spots

Members of Ashford’s Gurkha community have organised a ‘CleanKent’ litter pick-up at The Warren and Hoads Wood on Sun 7th February 2010.

Around 50 members of the Sagarmatha Gurkha Community of Ashford, established in 2004, will be at the two beauty spots during the morning to show their commitment, both as individuals and as part of the wider community, to keeping the Kentish countryside clean, safe and beautiful.

The community also hopes their actions will influence other people to be more mindful of the environment in the future and stop littering and fly-tipping.
Gomba Sherpa of the Sagarmatha Gurkha Community said: “We know that Kent is the best place to live, visit and work, and we hope this kind of programme will help improve the quality of Ashford’s environment.”

Anyone wishing to organise a similar project should contact Ashford Borough Council on 01233 330474.
